SDSU CAMPUS OPPORTUNITES

Student Life

SDSU students, faculty, and staff are involved in a multitude of organizations as volunteers. We help build better communities, mentor children and youth, and provide a wide range of services that might otherwise go undone.

As a student, you’ll find there are many reasons to volunteer — to gain job experience, to meet new people, to share your skills and experience, or simply because it feels good.

See the Division of Student Affairs page about Ethical and Civic Responsibility.

The Pride Center

At The Pride Center at San Diego State University, you can find information pertaining to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, ally, and many other communities at SDSU. The Pride Center, which opened at SDSU in 2014, not only offers its own programming and services, but also acts as a hub for the vibrant resources of the SDSU campus – take a look around!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Pride Center at [email protected].

Commuter Corner

Finding your place, making friends, and connecting academically and socially to campus are keys to your success at SDSU. Through websites, certificate programs, and other active programming, we aim to provide students living at home and commuting to campus with important tools to help make a positive connection to campus.

It can be very easy to fall into a routine of traveling to campus, going to class, and traveling back home. Challenge yourself to find an activity or organization on campus. Doing so will provide you with an on-campus support network, and a sense of a “home away from home.” Students who become involved on campus are more satisfied with their college experience and do better academically.

Challenges faced by commuter students

Many students are managing households and take care of multiple children, siblings, or older relatives, and this makes them selective with their time and campus involvement.

Take the steps to develop a sense of belonging to the SDSU campus. We want you to find a group of friends, a student organization, a research project, a community service event, or a mentor, that will help you to make SDSU your home away from home.
